Lora, as a person with Type 1, I'm so moved that you would attempt to do some glucose monitoring and then reflect on it. I wish my doctors would try to do this for just one day. Your post shows that such an experiment leads to great insight. Thanks.

Oh, and I should point out that I've had type 1 diabetes for over 35 years.

In the last 2 years I've managed to raise over $18,000 for Dr. Faustman's research. This is how much I believe it may work.

It may be too late to make this suggestion but...

Instead of the JDRF you may want to raise money for Dr. Denise Faustman's research into a possible cure for type 1 diabetes.

Her approach is currently in phase 1 clinical trials. Her lab is funded from volunteers raising the money. It's a true grassroots effort.

You can read about <a href="http://www.bernardfarrell.com/blog/2008/05/meeting-with-dr-faustman-again.htm" rel="nofollow">my recent meeting</a> with her on my blog.

I've been wearing a CGM for over a year now and can recommend it. Of course it works better if you have insurance coverage!

My advice is get a trial of whichever monitor you're thinking about. Some people find they really don't work for them.

Yes, indeed! The body is an amazing thing (given its healthy and functioning "normally"). Glad we got a chance to see you all and enjoy some "play time".

Funny you would do that I know how hard it can be just living with this problem.I am grateful that I was lucky that the diabetes was found very early and I was able to start dealing with it right away. I agree with the problem we go through regarding the intrusive methods we endure to check our blood by either work or other.I wish that there was a device to check my sugar levels at any time but nothing is available to me at this time so checking four times a day is the norm .Nice article and a good insite into what people with the problem deal with.

Hey there! Just wanted to tell you again how excited we are about the girls' daycare agreeing to do the walk. I can't wait to hear more details about it...if they do the "Hero" theme I think it should be a lot of fun for them and I think a success in terms of involvement! You'll have to take some pics (if they allow) that day as well.
